Coffee Anyone?

Coffee Anyone?
A new Starbucks recently opened here in Morton.  Today there are over 34,000 Starbucks cafés around the world.  Would you believe it’s a story that almost never happened?  Howard Schultz, the founder, was rejected by over 200 banks when he went looking for his first business loan.  Imagine if he gave up after the 199th try.  Something deep inside pushed him to persevere!
The Bible tells the story of Abraham’s father who almost reached Canaan, but decided to settle just short of it in the land of Haran. Genesis 11:31 “Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Harran, they settled there.”  Something deep inside us has to persevere through difficulties to avoid settling for mediocrity.
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
There may be an opportunity, a situation, or a disappointment that tempts us to settle for less than what could be the best.  It takes faith to pursue what is not yet seen.  God has “set eternity in the human heart”  More important than opening another “Starbucks” is to help open another heart to Jesus!
What is God calling you to do?  The Devil says you are insignificant, but God says you are extraordinary…  You're not inferior, you are tremendously influential!  Grab a cup of coffee and remember, God, is calling you to someone or something too!
It reminds me of a story I once heard:  Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.  Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.  Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.  Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.  It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
Lord, help us all see with eyes of faith and persevere to what You are calling us to!
